Jackdaws
The UK has eight species of crow and I’m keen to see them portrayed in art in positive ways. I’ve painted the jay; made a rook lantern with my family; illustrated a book, The Crows Know and made a shadow puppet crow that picked up a piece of bread in my adaptation of Aesop’s, The Clever Fox. The most recent addition is the jackdaw. I was invited to London to run anti-fossil fuel craftism workshop in April 2022 to paint beautiful Jackdaw protest signs. Shell is planning a new gas field called Jackdaw in the North Sea! More fossil fuels are the last thing we need in a world on the precipice.
Painting on card with acrylics works really well. Everyone in the workshop had a lovely time together talking about fossil fuel issues while making these striking protest signs.
