Owl & the Pussycat

A sneaky peek at some of the creations being made for my latest show, ‘The Owl and the Pussy Cat and Other Stories’ – a combination of willow-lantern puppets and shadow puppetry. When I first started making the owl back in February, I was looking to perform with friends at this year’s World Puppet Day Festivals in Athens and Ioaninna in northern Greece. Unfortunately lockdown restrictions curtailed these plans. However as luck would have it, new doors opened.

I was fortunate enough to be chosen to perform my show at the Scratch Space for this year’s Beverley Puppet Festival

We performed our 20 minute show on Friday 12th June

You can watch the show here:

Scratch Space is an opportunity for puppeteers/performers to show a new piece of Work in Development – and gain feedback. This year due to the Covid-19 restrictions, the Scratch Space performances are staged and shown via live stream on Beverley Puppet Festival’s Facebook page.

Hop on board the beautiful pea green boat and join Owl and Pussy-cat on their adventures for a truly illuminated adventure!

After The Owl and the Pussy Cat, we presented 2 shadow puppet shows on the sail of the boat.

Moon for the transitions

The ‘Other Stories’ we performed were, The Woodcock and the Goldcrest, a story I wrote and performed with Andrianna Avdi. You can read more about this HERE.

To close we had another shadow puppet show. Our adaptation of one of Aesop’s fables, The Clever Fox. You can read more about this HERE.
