Uncle John

Life for John began on a remote island in Orkney. Pieced together from the scraps of felt, fur fabric and buttons I found tucked away in my mum’s sewing box. Raised on a diet of teddy bear stuffing and barely a puppet, he lolloped off into the garden on a single nylon thread without a care in the world…

Later in life he appeared in ‘Plasma Scream’ an incredible Faraday cage experience performed at CADS Creative Space in Sheffield

My sister Sarah took pity upon his threadbare pullover (made from one of my socks) and knitted him a dapper chequered tank top. This led him in a new direction; as a model for the Friends of Burngreave Chapel Apple Day publicity – which also featured one of Sarah’s knitted mice!

Here is is with friends getting ready for the annual ‘Dance Yer Socks Off!’ fund raiser event at the Burton Street Foundation in 2014.

Whilst enjoying a well-earned long holiday with Vagelis in Greece, he studied and eventually mastered the Cretan lyre
